CEA offers several accreditation workshops each year. Workshops include a discussion of accreditation in general, specific CEA procedures, the self-study process, and writing the self-study report. Participants receive a copy of the Accreditation Handbook and the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions, which are reviewed and discussed at the workshop.
Programs or institutions submit the Application for Eligibility Form, which must be reviewed and approved. Then, approved sites receive a determination of eligibility letter before being invited to attend a workshop. Attending a CEA workshop implies that the program or institution is ready to begin the process of self-study, which must be completed within 18 months of the workshop. Within two months of the workshop, the site must prepare and submit a self-study plan, which will guide the self-study process leading to submission of the self-study report.
